New Series

We are beginning our second series in our study through Exodus. I thought this summer would be a great time to go a little deeper, dig in a little more and help us all to grow as disciples (followers) of God. We tend to look at the sermon calendar with a mindset of a “balanced diet”. There are series that are geared for us as Christ-followers to dig in deeper and grow in discipleship. There are series that can be used more as a “tool” in the hands of believers to reach out to friends who may not yet know Jesus. There are times for studying through a book of the Bible and times for us to address important topics from throughout the Bible. After the really cool OurSpace series brought a large number of guests and a number of new believers, we thought a series walking through the discipleship process and spiritual growth and depth would be a perfect fit for where we are.

Anyway, on to this new series. We’re going to follow the Israelites now that they’ve been freed from Egypt on their journey to the promised land. We’ll look into what they did right and what they did “not so right” and gain some insight into how we can follow God. I was just thinking today how the Exodus picture is such a great metaphor for us as believers. If you think about it – we’ve been set free from sin (through faith in Jesus Christ) and yet we’re not yet to heaven (the promised land). We are in this “in between time” where we must learn to follow God and to follow well. I can’t wait to jump into this series and see what I learn from it (and don’t worry I’ll be open to share it with us all). Feel free to read through Exodus 13-end and share any insights, questions or thoughts on this blog – I would love to learn together.
